2009 King County Toy Distribution Policy Change

By administrator - Posted on 30 October 2009

The Department of Social & Health Services (DSHS) in King County is partnering with the Marines to distribute toys this holiday season through Toys for Tots.  DSHS will provide Toys for Tots a list of King County residents that receive public assistance benefits through Community Services Division.  The list will include the number, sex, and age of children in the household.  The Marines will use the list to distribute appropriate toys to these families.   Community Services Division administers cash, medical, food, and childcare subsidy programs.
To learn more about these programs or to apply for benefits, please visit the DSHS Community Services website at: Community Services Office

We have decided to do things a little bit different this year. We feel that the need will be greater and in an effort to focus on the needy childern of King County. We have decidied to partner with DSHS to aid us in the distribution of the toys we collect. Any child receiving aid of any type through DSHS will be able to obtain toys from us and thoes childern only. There isn't any type of registration requirement, only that the child recieves aid through DSHS. During the week of 14 to 18 December we will go to two Community Service Offices a day to distribute toys to the families of the children that fall under that office.  Once the schedule is set it will be listed here on our website and posted in every CSO under DSHS.  We are unable to donate any toys to Church Group or Non-Profit Organizations. I hope that this answere your questions.
Respectfully
GySgt James Ivey
